MILLEDGEVILLE — Brantley County’s Bass Fishing program had three teams qualify for the state tournament here at the Clarks Hill event.
The team of Saybree Niece and Waylon Thomas recorded Brantley County’s highest-ever two-person team finish placing fifth in the field of 226 teams with a weight total of 16 lbs., 12 ounces with their fivecatch limit during the Saturday, March 7 event.
Ryder Todd and Conner Wages placed 10th in the field, the first time BCHS has had two teams inside the Top 10 positions, with a five-catch limit weight of 15 lbs., 4 ozs.
Randy Johns and Jesse Miller gave Brantley County three teams in the Top 21 spots for the first time totaling 13 lbs., 2 ozs.
They join the team of Hayden Hickox and Brysen Chancey with state berths in the Saturday, May 9 finals at Lake Sinclair. The Hickox-Chancey tandem posted a 20thplace finish during the February 7 event at West Point Lake, the first event of the year.
Ayden Schmitt and Jayden Swain placed 73rd with their five-catch limit weighting 9 lbs., 9 ozs. Eli Crawford and Kolby McLeod were 120th with their five bass weight 6 lbs., 7 ozs.

Toombs County’s A.J. Bagby and Tessa Jones captured the title with a total combined weight of 19 lbs. 1 oz.
A total of 115 teams caught their five-bass limit. There were 741 bass caught with 737 released with a total weight of 1,478 lbs., 13 ozs.
