BROWNTOWN — A Waynesville woman died after being struck by a vehicle early in the morning along State Route 520 of Browntown Road.
Mahalia Gayle Dean Jacobs, 47, was struck by a 2014 Ford Edge driven by 44-year-old Robert Ackerman of Folkston at approximately 5:07 a.m., Monday, March 9, according to the report of Georgia State Trooper Donald Bonner, which was released Monday afternoon, March 16.
Ackerman was traveling westbound in the right lane of State Route 520 when he struck Ms. Jacobs, who was also in the right westbound lane. The 2014 Ford Edge’s front bumper struck Ms. Jacobs in the center of the right lane.
After impact, the Ackerman vehicle traveled approximately 276 feet before it came to a controlled final rest after impact. Ms. Jacobs was thrown approximately 215 feet before coming to an uncontrolled final rest on the right shoulder of State Route 520, approximately three feet from the fog line.
Ms. Jacobs was transported Brunswick’s Glynn County hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Ackerman was not cited for the accident.
