Beverly Ruth Lotz Cox

Beverly Ruth Lotz Cox

Beverly Ruth Lotz Cox, 93, of Waycross, passed away Monday afternoon, March 9, 2026, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross, following an extended illness.
Born August 10, 1932, in Spokane, Washington, she was a daughter of the late Charles Roderick and Amy Beulah Cruger Lotz.  She grew up in Colville, Washington and was a 1950 graduate of Colville High School. She attended Eastern Washington College and worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Northwest Bell.  She and her husband moved to Waycross in 1953 and lived for several years before returning to Colville where they raised their family. They returned to Waycross in 1976 and she was a longtime housewife.
She was raised in a strong Christian family and gave her life to the Lord at the age of eight. She loved reading God's word and said that John 3:16 was her favorite verse because, "It says it all." She said more than once she was grateful for a forgiving Savior.
She was a sports nut as she would put it. She played tennis as soon as the snow was off the courts in the spring. She swam at the local pool all summer long. She learned to bowl in high school and later on became the Class B Washington State Women's champion. She was very involved with her sons' sports, taking them to practices and games. She and her husband, June, would take the children to professional baseball games.
She sewed, canned fruit and vegetables and cleaned and packaged meat when animals were butchered. Her cooking was incredible! She showed her love for her family by serving them. She had six children and said, "I love being a mother."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Roan Cox Jr.; a daughter, Colleen Cox James; two sons, James Cox and Robert Allen Cox; a sister, Glenna Ghramm and a brother, Ronald Lotz.
She was loved and will be sorely missed by her daughter, Cynthia Haslam (husband Dan), Everett, WA; two sons, Randall Cox (wife Shelly) and David Cox (wife Jennifer), both of Waycross; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Cox, Blackshear; 12 grandchildren, David Haslam, Marcus Haslam, Ryan Cox, Shawn Cox (wife Sara), Rachel Cox, Miranda James, Ashley James, Michael James (wife Samantha), Galen Cox, Emily Perry (husband Christian), Abby Cox and Mary Kathryn Cox; 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Naples (husband Larry), Sacramento, CA; a brother, David Lotz (wife Elizabeth), Independence, OR and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 13, from the Kettle Creek Cemetery in Ware County.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
