brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Earlaine Johns.
Mrs. Johns was a homemaker most of her life and served as a secretary at Hickox Baptist Church for several years. She would consider her greatest accomplishment to be raising her three sons.
She often said her main goal in life was to be a mama, and if you ask her boys, they would wholeheartedly agree that she was the best “Ma” to them and to many others who came into her home.
Her grandchildren were loved by her just as fiercely, and they knew Nana would always have sweet tea and food ready for them. Cooking wasn’t just something she did - it was who she was, and it was one of many ways she shared her servant’s heart and cared for the people she loved.
Mrs. Johns enjoyed going to the mountains, tending to her flowers and going fishing.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Larry Donovan Johns, Sr.; her three sons, Donovan Johns (Misty), Jarrett Johns (Camille), and Justin Johns (Christy); six grandchildren, Austin Medlock (Theresa), Dallas Thomas (E.J.), Derrick Bradshaw (Laney), Riley Johns (Kaylee), Autry Johns and Colton Johns: nine great grandchildren, Tallan Collins, Millie Medlock, Eli Thomas, Chrislyn Rae Thomas, Deken Thomas, Landree Bradshaw, Emery Kate Bradshaw, Bowen Bradshaw and Wrenley Mae Johns; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne White (Shirley) and Wilfred White (Shirley); a sister and brother-in-law, Denise Brooks (Allan); a sister-in-law, Betty White; a mother-in-law, Lydia Burch; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends and church family.
A funeral service was held Wednesday morning (March 11, 2026) at 11 a.m. at Hickox Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Giddens officiating.
Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery.
