Marion Lee Johns Strickland

HICKOX – Marion Lee Johns Strickland, 63 of Hickox, passed away Monday night, March 2, 2026 at her residence after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Nahunta, Mrs. Strickland’s parents were Harvey Elmer Johns and Annie Grace Williams May. She is also preceded in death by her stepfather, Donnie May; a sister, Denise Rowell; and a sister- in-law, Gwen Short.

Mrs. Strickland was well known for working the front desk at 82 Tire & Automotive Repair since it had opened and was a member of Hickox Baptist Church. She was a great mother to her boys and loved her grandsons dearly.

Mrs. Strickland loved going to the beach with her sisters and will be greatly missed by her community.

Survivors include her husband, Alan Strickland of Hickox; two sons, Hunter Strickland (Erin Hartley) and Byron Strickland (Brooke Studstill) all of Hickox; two grandsons, River Strickland and Calan Strickland; a sister and brother-in-law, Missy Cleland (Robbie) of Raybon; a brother-in-law, Randy Rowell of Hickox; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Thursday afternoon, March 5, 2026 at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Wainright and Rev. Marlan DePratter officiating.

Burial was held in New Hope Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bryon Strickland, Hunter Strickland, Blake Cleland, Brandon Rowell, Joey Queen and Jordan Wilson.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
