NAHUNTA — Nahunta Elementary school administrators had a student involved with a written threat removed from campus Monday.
According to a release by the Brantley County School System, NES administrators immediately investigated the situation and removed the student responsible for the written threat from campus.
“The situation has been addressed according to school safety procedures and has been turned over to law enforcement,” stated the release. “We want to assure our families and community that all students and staff are safe and at no time today was anyone on campus in danger or under an imminent threat.”
The release went on to say, “Threats of violence are taken extremely seriously in Brantley County Schools. Statements about harming others cannot and will not be dismissed as jokes, and they will be handled to the fullest extent allowed by law.”
It urged parents to please continue talking with their children about the seriousness of their words and the consequences that can follow.
“The safety of our students and staff will always remain our top priority,” the release concluded.
Anyone with questions can contact Nahunta Elementary School directly so a member of the staff can assist.
