Georgia FilmWorks co-founders D.S. Luke and James Sauls are working with Executive Producers Gavin Roberson and Wayne Morgan on a documentary about “The Lost Town of Zirkle, Ga.”
• Luke and Sauls, both natives of Pierce County, are the cofounders of Georgia Film-Works. Their passion for filmmaking ignited when they collaborated with Past 6 Productions and Skull & Dragon Studios on a music video shoot in Waycross.
Recognizing their calling, they founded Georgia FilmWorks, with D.S. as CFO and James as CEO. Together, they bring bold and impactful stories to the screen. Their dedication to craft and innovation continues to drive Georgia Filmworks to new heights.
The co-founders contacted Wayne Morgan and Gavin Roberson about collaborating on this ongoing documentary about Zirkle with them.
• Roberson is a descendant of some of the original employees of Zirkle. His grandfather and two great uncles were some of the original employees of the sawmill. His historic ties to Zirkle help to bring the story together.
Roberson, who also has past experience in the movie and film industry, grew up in Brantley County very near Zirkle.
• Morgan has provided his knowledge and love of Zirkle and its history. Zirkle has been one of his favorite places to photograph, and he even named one of his coffee table books after the place.
More people have come on board with different skills and are still hoping to find out as much as they can about the Zirkle, a town which pretty much vanished after 1926.
Some of the Zirkle family is involved. They are still trying to determine the exact location of the town cemetery, which so far has not been found. If anyone has any information they believe may help with this ongoing project, please get in contact with Morgan by phone or email.
