WAYCROSS — Mr. Norman Ashley Arnold, 81, passed away Friday evening, March 6, 2026, at his residence.

Born March 6, 1945, in Atkinson County, he was the son of the late John Calvin “J.C.” Arnold and Oveda Griffin Arnold. Arnold graduated from Manor High School in 1963 and began his career working alongside his father driving a log truck. Over time, he became known as a true master of many trades.

Throughout his life, Arnold pursued numerous successful business ventures. His work included involvement with Arnold Gas Company and A&B Auto, as well as operating convenience stores, managing real estate on Amelia Island, and maintaining a timber farm. Never afraid of new opportunities, Arnold also developed a banana and cattle farm in Belize, where his herd grew to approximately 330 head of cattle. While there, he engineered bridges for pedestrians and some vehicles.

Arnold loved his family deeply and was known as an incredibly productive and hardworking “workaholic.” Despite his tireless work ethic, he also had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around him.

In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by two brothers, Huey Arnold and Lorin Arnold.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Fowler Arnold of Waycross; one son, Norman Ashley Arnold II of Rochester, Minn.; two sisters, Jean A. McCarty and Clarice A. Miles; his in-laws, Linda Roberson, Jerry Fowler (Linda), Kathy Cox, and Mark and Susan Fowler; stepsister, Harriette Hall; god children, Alma Green, Rita Eleanor Jordan, Elyisse, Anna Riggs Owens, and Lawson Owens; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13 at Music Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice House Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, 31501.

Expressions of sympathy may be expressed by posting to his tribute wall at www.musicfuneralhome. com.

Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
