The Waycross Police Department is actively investigating the death of a Waycross woman on January 26, following a call to 911 for a possible overdose, Assistant Police Chief Danny Hampton said in a March 6 in a news release.
Rachelle Taylor Purtee, 33, was pronounced dead after being transported to Memorial Satilla Health, following the call to the 1300 block of Elizabeth Street around 6:30 p.m., Hampton said When WPD officers arrived on the scene, they found Purtee in an unresponsive state and administered Narcan and performed CPR until Ware EMS arrives and took over the life-saving efforts.
Ware EMS transported Purtee to the hospital where she later died.
