Lady Gators and Gators thinclads steamroll in home meet

Ware County dominated its season-opening three-team home track meet Thursday against Tattnall County and McIntosh County Academy.

The Lady Gators totaled

231.5 points with eight first-place finishes in 15 events. Tattnall County was second with 150.5 points with MCA was third with 72.

Finishing first were Alexia Sherman (32.97 seconds) in the 200meter, Amaria Dukes (1:06) in the 400m, Faith Williams (15:15) in the

3,200m, Nadya Ellis

(18.14 sec.) in the 100m, Shakira Lane (4’10”) in the high jump, Shidaviona Washington (14’6”) in the long jump, the 4x100m relay team (54.22 sec.) and the 4x200m relay team (1:55.20).

The Gators logged 10 first-place finishes in totaling 322.5 points to outdistance Tattnall County’s

177.5 and MCA’s 44 points.

Placing first were Rykeil Kitchen (23.32 sec.) in the 200m, Lavon Lawson (57.52 sec.) in the

400m, Damari Bennett

(2:16.29) in the 800m, Adarius Brown (6’4”) in the high jump, Cameron King in the long jump

(21’1”) and the triple jump

(45’4”), Dominique Mackey (39’3”) in the shot put, the 4x100m relay team (44.11 sec.), the

4x200m relay team

(1:34.95), the 4x400m relay team (4:01.17) and the 4x800m relay team

(9:26).
