The Okefenokee Heritage Center is hosting the Steve Bean Youth Art Exhibit throughout the month of April. The popular annual exhibit features artwork by students from elementary through high school. A reception to honor the artists will be held 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, April 26.
Middle and high school entries will be adjudicated for first, second, and third prize. Winners will be announced at the reception.
The late Steve Bean was the Arts Coordinator for the Okefenokee Heritage Center for over a decade. He attended Appalachian State University, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Art Marketing. Bean worked in a number of mediums, including painting, sculpture and graphic design. He believed in the power of art to increase student āmatriculation into higher education, higher test scores and more prestigious career developmentā.
