Pierce County Middle School’s tennis teams swept two Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference road matches in a busy week.
The Lady Bears and Bears swept Brantley County Middle School by identical 3-2 scores Monday, March 2, at Caney Bay, in the first of three consecutive road matches stretching into the final week of the season.
The Lady Bears knocked off Appling County Middle School 3-2 in Baxley to clinch the girls’ No. 1 seed for the conference tournament as host, with the Bears posting a 5-0 decision. No information was reported on the Lady Bears’ victory.
Pierce Middle closes out the regular season this week with a Monday, March 9, date at Bacon County Middle School and a home finale date today (Wednesday, March 11) vs. Ware County Middle School.

CANEY BAY — PCMS captured two of the three singles matches and split in doubles action to escape over the Lady Herons.
Zayleigh Raithel lost 8-5 at No. 1 singles (no names were given for the BCMS players). Eammaline Taylor posted an 8-5 win at No. 2 with Bryalee Oliver recording an 8-3 decision.
The Lady Bears’ No. 1 doubles team of Lily Gray Wright and Brooklyn Barber doubled up their foes to seal the team win with an 8-4 decision. The No. 2 duo of Ane Clough and Kaylin Sills fell 8-6.

CANEY BAY — The Bears clinched the match, winning all three singles matches, with Brantley Middle netting a doubles sweep.
Nate Carlson outlasted Blane Smith winning an eight-point tiebreaker 9-8 (8-6) at No. 1. Cooper Bradley doubled up Collin Harris 8-4 at No. 2. Bentley Taylor eased past Eli Russell posting an 8-1 decision.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Pate Thomas and Jaxon Coates fell 9-7 to Hanner Harris and Caiden Bass. The No. 2 team of Barrett Reid and Lucas Gerard dropped an 8-2 decision to Bentley Stieve and Hauldin Lee.

BAXLEY — PCMS rolled past the Rams losing just six matches in the five-match sweep.
Carlson doubled up Carter Brock 84 at No. 1 singles with Bradley and Taylor winning 8-0 over Wyld Weright and Lucas Atkinson at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively.
Both doubles matches ended with 8-1 decision for the Bears. Thomas and Coates downed Ryder Nail and Cooper Swain while Dow Walker and Reid beat Cade Copeland and Grant Barnes.
