
Herrin
HORTENSE — Nellie Jo Lee Herrin, 87, of Hortense passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born in Wayne County, her parents were Dewey Willie and Lula Rene Crews Lee.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herrin also was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Herrin, Jr.; one son, James David Herrin; and three brothers, Clinton Lee, Caral Lee, and Jerome Lee.
Mrs. Herrin worked alongside her husband and son at H&H Sawing and Lumber for many years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Ladies’ Sunday School Class.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Cindy Herrin of Hortense; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Eddie Lee of Waverly; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Herrin of Waynesville; eight grandchildren, Jordan Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla.., Ansley Worth (Logan) of Hickox, Remington Herrin of Hortense, James Herrin (Kinsey) of Atlanta, Adam Herrin (Ashley) of Statesboro, Robbie Lee (Beth) of Hortense, Joshua Lee (Alyssa) of Brunswick, and Lauren Eades (Kevin) of Marietta; one sister, Edna Grace Harris of Nahunta; along with several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service was held February 25 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Cochran and the Rev. Randy Wainright officiating. Burial followed in Raulerson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Flint Herrin, Remington Herrin, Adam Herrin, James Herrin, Robbie Lee, and Joshua Lee.
