HORTENSE — Nellie Jo Lee Herrin, 87 of Hortense, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Bayview Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Born in Wayne County, Mrs. Herrin’s parents were Dewey Willie and Lula Rene Crews Lee. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred

Herrin, Jr.; a son, James David Herrin;and three brothers, Clinton Lee, Caral Lee and Jerome Lee.
Mrs. Herrin worked alongside her husband and son at H & H Sawing and Lumber for many years. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Cindy Herrin of Hortense; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Eddie Lee of Waverly; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Herrin of Waynesville; eight grandchildren, Jordan Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla., Ansley Worth (Logan) of Hickox, Remington Herrin of Hortense, James Herrin (Kinsey) of Atlanta, Adam Herrin (Ashley) of Statesboro, Robbie Lee (Beth) of Hortense, Joshua Lee (Alyssa) of Brunswick and Lauren Eades (Kevin) of Marietta; a sister, Edna Grace Harris of Nahunta; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Wednesday morning, February 25, 2026 at 11 a.m., at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Cochran and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
Burial followed in Raulerson Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Flint Herrin, Remington Herrin, Adam Herrin, James Herrin, Robbie Lee and Joshua Lee.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
