Brantley County’s Herons had a full week of action with two Region 1-A matches against Thomasville and Jeff Davis, and defending their Jekyll Jam title of a year ago.
The Herons overpowered Thomasville Tuesday, February 24 posting a 5-0 victory. They followed with a 4-1 victory at Jeff Davis Thursday, February 26.
BCHS survived Friday, February 27 against Athens Academy at the Jekyll Jam winning 3-2.
Saturday’s matches were not received in time for print this week.

CANEY BAY — Brantley County had little trouble with the Bulldogs winning all five matches in straight sets dropping just eight games.
Ashton Tyler had the closest singles match at No. 1 notching a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Wesley Montgomery. Both the No. 2 and No. 3 matches ended 6-0, 6-0. Owen Spradley downed Pace Halei at No. 2 with Jayce Chapman knocking off Shiv Patel at No. 3.
BCHS’s No. 1 doubles tandem of Jett Florey and Miles Florey coasted to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. The No. 2 team of Evan Payne and Owen Wildes turned back William Casper and A.J. Carpios winning 6-1, 6-2.

HAZLEHURST — The Herons sealed the victory with straight set victories in all three singles matches.
Tyler escaped at No.1 singles turning back Daniel Mims 6-4, 7-5. Spradley knocked off Caidon Diaz at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Chapman east past Bentley Poe at No. 3 winning 6-4, 6-1.
The Floreys posted a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles over Asher Mims and Brock Howard. The No. 2 duo of Alex Keen and Payne fell in a third-set, 10-point tiebreaker losing 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 to Christian Dunn and Kenny Newton.

BRUNSWICK — BCHS escaped Athens Academy with two wins at doubles after falling in two of the three singles matches in sets to four games and seven-point tiebreakers.
The Floreys notched a 4-1, 4-1 decision at No. 1 doubles over Price West and Paul Chandler. Yog Patel and Payne won their match via forfeit.
Tyler fell 4-2, 4-1 at No. 1 singles to Westin Smart. Spradley was beaten 4-1, 4-2 at No. 2 by Alex Hollenbech. Chapman notched the lone win at No. 3 beating Greg Marienchech 5-4 (7-2), 4-1.
