God Bless America... and the crops

The second annual ‘Blessing of the Crops’ to be held March 11

The second annual blessing of the crops will begin 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 at Alabaha Baptist Church, located at 4382 Highway 203 in Blackshear.

This is the second year of what organizers are hoping will become an annual event. Darcy Davis, crop insurance agent for AgSouth Farm Credit, said she got the idea from a similar gathering in Bulloch County.

“The year 2024 was hard on farmers and it was laid on my heart to start something similar here in South Georgia. No agendas, no programs, no politics, just a moment for us all to gather together and give thanks for the opportunity to be stewards of the land and ask the Creator to pour out His blessings on our endeavors,” said Davis. “Praying over the crops has been around since Biblical times. I just think it is time to get back to that.”

The public is invited to attend and enjoy both breakfast and blessings.
