PCHS has 13 players named as all-Region
Pierce County seniors Claire Murray and Nigel Brown were recently named Region 3-AA’s Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year respectively in voting by the region coaches.
PCHS had 13 total players named all-region first team, second team and honorable mention after the votes were counted.
In the girls’ region, Appling County senior Shamiah Barnum was named the Region Player of the Year and sophomore teammate Mi’Kayla Williams was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year. Lady Pirates’ head coach Roderick Ringold, Jr., was the Coach of the Year after leading his squad to the region title over Tattnall County.
Murray was joined on the First Team by sophomore teammate Maddi McGatha. Barnum and Williams were joined by freshman teammate Madison Jones. Tattnall County placed senior Jaylin Kennedy and junior Aniya McMillian on the team. Crisp County was represented by senior Mariyah Chambers. PCHS junior Isabella Marx earned a Second Team honor. She was joined by Crisp County senior Lakayla Alexander, Tattnall County junior Rhanna Bess, Cook senior Jordin Pitts and Appling County junior Ky’Laiah Smith.
Lady Bears named honorable mention were senior Alayna Bell, sophomore Caren Drew, junior Ansley Hutcheson and senior Saharah Minott.
In the boys’ division, Crisp County junior Caden Lofton was tabbed the Region Player of the Year. Appling County senior Aldarrius Howell was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Crisp County’s Dr. Towandi King earned Region Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to the region championship.
Brown was the Bears’ lone First Team selection. Outside of Lofton, Crisp County seniors Chad Dawson and Courtney Oliver IV received the honor. Appling County junior Nate Davis joins Howell. Tattnall County seniors Nathan Houser and Brian Sanders, Jr. round out the squad.

PCHS placed two players on the Second Team with the selections of seniors Chezz Armstrong and Shavez Warren. The other three members were Tattnall County senior Kayden Marshall, Appling County sophomore Noah Henderson and Crisp County sophomore Ethan McGriff.
The Bears had four players receive honorable mention status. Selected were seniors DeMontre Clark and Jikeyse McGauley, junior Jamil Strickland and freshman D.J. Moody.
