Pierce County Middle School rolled to a pair of “mercy rule” Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Association road wins in baseball action.
The Bears pounded Waycross Middle School 21-3 in three innings Monday, February 23. They followed with a 13-0 victory at Brantley County Middle School Thursday, February 26.
A Friday, February 27 matchup with Coffee Middle was canceled due to weather.
PCMS’s 6th-7th grade dropped a 16-15 decision Saturday in Pearson to Atkinson County Middle School.

WAYCROSS — Six PCMS players recorded two hits apiece, nine extra base hits and drove in 15 runs in the shortened three-inning contest.
Jack Jameson (2-for-2) laced a double and hit a home run driving in four runs. Jacob Gruver (2-for-3) banged out a double and triple driving in two runs. James Gruver (2-for-4) doubled and drove home four runs.
Colton O’Berry (2-for-3) ripped a pair of doubles driving in two runs. Spencer Taylor (2-for-3) finished with two doubles and two RBI. Matthew Herring (2-for-4) drove in a run.
McCoy Howard (1-for-2) recorded a double and drove in a run. Asher Strickland was credited with an RBI.
PCMS scored four runs in the top of the first highlighted by Jameson’s roundtripper.
The Bulldogs came right back scoring three runs in the bottom of the frame against Drew Stipe (2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB) to close the deficit to 4-3.
Pierce Middle responded with 12 runs in the second inning scoring all the runs after two outs and one on base. Eleven consecutive batters reached before the final out was recorded.
The Bears plated five runs in the third inning for a 21-3 advantage.

NAHUNTA — A trio of Bears’ pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout fanning 11 Brantley Middle batters.
Jameson (3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 7 K, 3 BB, 1 WP), Spencer Taylor (.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 3 BB) and Strickland (1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 BB) toed the rubber for PCMS.
Jameson recorded a 2for-3 performance at the plate doubling and homering for the second straight game driving four runs. Jacob Gruver (2-for-2, double, six stolen bases), Strickland (2-for-4, double, RBI) and Howard (2for-3, four ribbies) all recorded multi-hit games. James Gruver (1-for-3, two RBI) and O’Berry (1for-2, two stolen bases) added a hit apiece.
PCMS built a 4-0 lead in the first inning. The Bears dented the plate five times in the second for a 9-0 advantage. A three-run third inning extended the margin to 12-0. Pierce Middle added a fifth inning run to finish out the scoring.
6th-7th Atco Middle ............16 Bears ......................15 PEARSON — Atkinson Middle overcame a 13-5 deficit scoring 11 of the final 13 runs to rally for the wild victory.
PCMS chased home three runs in its first at bat with the Rebels scoring once to trail 3-1. The Bears scored once in the second with Atco Middle scoring four times to take a 5-4 lead.
Pierce Middle batted around in the third inning plating nine runs for a 135 advantage. The Rebels answered with a four-run bottom of the third and a six-run fourth to grab a 1513 lead.
The Bears scored single runs in the fifth and sixth ,tying the game at 15-all. Atco Middle plated the eventual winning run in the bottom of the sixth.
Briggs Sweat (3-for-4, double, three ribbies) led PCMS at the plate. Collecting two hits were Lane Russell (2-for-5, two RBI), Hyatt Streat (2-for-4, double, two RBI) and Case Morris (2-for-5, RBI).
Adding a hit each were Cam Callahan (1-for-4, double, two RBI), Landon Shabott (1-for-3, RBI), Griff Walsh (1-for-4, RBI) and Paxton Cochran (1for-3, RBI)
