BAXLEY — Pierce County Middle School swept homestanding Appling County Middle School in Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference soccer action Wednesday.
The Lady Bears went to a shootout after the February 25 match ended in a 1-all deadlock on a goal by Avery Wright. Neither team scored in the 10-minute overtime period.
In the penalty kick shootout, PCMS got goals from Addy Hilton, Audrey Boatright and Kimberly Abreu for the eventual 4-3 victory.
The Bears followed with a 2-1 victory in the nightcap. Reed Bennett scored a goal in the first half with Sergio Pena’s second-half goal proving to be the game winner.
Pierce Middle traveled to St. Simons Island Monday (March 2) to face Frederica Academy in a non-conference matchup. PCMS plays today (Wednesday, March 4) hosting Ware County Middle School in conference action.
