49th Annual Okefenokee Swamp Run set to be held March 14

The 49th Annual Okefenokee Swamp Run returns to Okefenokee Swamp Park Saturday, March 14, bringing runners, families and the local community together for a morning of outdoor fun, fitness and celebration.

The Swamp Run features both a 10k trail run and a 1mile family-friendly fun run, designed to welcome people of all ages. The 1 mile fun run will kick off with a ribbon cutting to officially open the Flatwoods Fire Trail, a new ADA-accessible trail at Okefenokee Swamp Park.

The Flatwoods Fire Trail was made possible by a grant from Athletic Brewing Company’s Two For The Trails program. The trail provides fee-free access for the community and includes educational signage highlighting flatwoods ecology and the role of prescribed fire in maintaining healthy habitats.

The 10k trail run offers runners a true 10k distance on a mostly dirt course along forest service roads surrounding the park and Dixon Memorial Forest. The course is trail-style but not overly technical. The race will be chip-timed by Second Wind Timing and includes awards for overall male and female finishers, overall masters (40+) and the top three finishers in 10year age groups through age 70+.

Race day perks add to the celebration. Thanks to the support of Chick-fil-A, every registered participant will receive a Chick-fil-A fruit cup and chicken biscuit for breakfast, along with a gift card for a Chick-fil-A entrée.

All registered participants receive free admission to Okefenokee Swamp Park on race day and a high-quality performance tshirt.

The Swamp Run is hosted by Okefenokee Swamp Park. Proceeds from the event help support the park’s mission to foster connection with nature through education, stewardship and outdoor recreation while advancing conservation and regional prosperity.
