Josephine Hendrix Yarbrough, 83, of Waycross, passed away early Saturday morning, February 28, 2026, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.
Born in Blackshear January 25, 1943, she lived in Pierce County most of her life before moving to Waycross with her daughter, Margie. She worked in cigar and cotton factories for a time but spent the last several years as a homemaker. She was devoted to her family, took very good care of them, and it was an honor for them to take care of her in her later years. She was a member of Abundant Life in Blackshear and enjoyed reading her Bible and doing word searches in her free time.
She was a daughter of the late Johnny Wilber and Margie Mizell Crawford Hendrix. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Yarbrough; three sons, Jeffrey Yarbrough, Gregory Yarbrough and Wilber “PeeWee” Yarbrough; two sisters, Lucille Fitzgerald and Dorothy Mae Bradford; and four brothers, Leroy, J. W., Jr., W. R. and David Hendrix.
Survivors include her two daughters, Linda Tuten, Blackshear and Margie (Michael) Clark, Waycross; her son, Wesley (Debbie) Yarbrough, Blackshear; a sister, Cordia Todd, Tampa, FL; two brothers, James (Cathy) Hendrix, Blackshear and the Rev. Sammy (Cindy) Hendrix, Waycross; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, from
the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel with Bradley Yarbrough and the Rev. Sammy Hendrix officiating.
Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery.
