Sweat
BLACKSHEAR — Mr. Jeremy Allen Sweat, age 42, of Blackshear, passed away early Friday morning, February 13, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health.
Born September 22, 1983, in Tampa, Fla., he was the son of James Allen Sweat and the late Kathy Freeman Varnadore.
Sweat lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a 2002 graduate of Pierce County High School. From middle school through graduation, he was an active member of the band program and proudly marched all four years with the “Sound of Silver” marching band, contributing to several award-winning performances.
Sweat was exceptionally talented in music. He found joy in creative expression, and had a deep appreciation for the arts, often spending his spare time creating acrylic paintings and exploring new artistic ideas. In 2012, he graduated from Waycross College with a degree in mathematics, a field that reflected both his intelligence and his analytical mind.
Above all else, Sweat loved his family. He cherished every moment spent together, especially with his nieces and nephews, who brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.
To many, Sweat was affectionately known as “Bubby.” He wasn’t just “Bubby” to his family, he was “Bubby” to friends and to the children who adored him, a name that perfectly reflected the warmth, humor, and love he gave so freely. His presence was steady, creative, and full of heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, Sweat was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sonny Freeman and Joyce Cox, and his paternal grandparents, Osborne Sweat and Shirley Montgomery.
Survivors include his father, James Allen “Jimmy” Sweat of Blackshear; two sisters, Kristin Sweat (husband, Jamie) of Blackshear, and Kasey Sweat of Waycross; his stepfather, Tim Varnadore of Waycross; nieces and nephews, Seth Hunt, Zane Cason, Blakeli Rentz, and Kilee Sweat; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
A memorial service was held February 21 at Destination Church.
