Eight from Ware on CCG academic lists
Eight Ware County students were named to the College of Coastal Georgia President’s List and Dean’s List for their academic performance in the Fall 2025 semester.
Alyssa Crowe, Danielle McCullough, Jarrett Rowell and Robert Smith received recognition for attaining the President’s List honor of 12 or more hours at 1000 level or above courses with a 4.0 GPA.
Anniston Grantham, Ayla Jarrard, Stephanie Rios and Meredith Youngblood were on the Dean’s List with 12 or more hours at 1000 level or above courses with at least a 3.5.
Center High celebrates 100th
Center High School celebrates the centennial anniversary of its opening at its annual Museum Banquet, at 6 p.m. March 14 at the Waycross Exchange Club, 2401 Knight Avenue.
The 16th annual banquet by the Center High School Historical Committee is themed, “Celebrating 100 Years of Excellence.” Center High opened in 1925 for the education of black students and operated until its final graduating class in 1969.
Tickets are $50 per person and available from committee members or by calling (912) 283-4298. If class members want to sit together it’s suggested they make reservations by March 1 by calling the aforementioned number.
Attire for the evening is “dressy.”
Tyre family has reunion March 7
The family reunion of the descendants of John Tyre, his first wife, Mary Jane Lightsey Tyre, and his second wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Eason Tyre, will be Saturday, March 7, at the Long Branch Community Center, 3419 Long Branch Road, Bristol.
Doors open at 11 a.m. DOE noon business meeting. A covered dish lunch will follow. Plates, cups, utensils and drinks will be provided.

Senior Dance set at Trembling Earth
The Ware County Recreation Department will host a Senior Dance from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday, March 14 at the Trembling Early Complex gym, 2109 Cecil Brown Drive.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. Admission is $7 per person. DJ Fred Hand will be playing all the oldies. There will be light refreshments and door prizes.

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) is a non-profit weight loss support group that meets every Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, 601 Hill Street.
