Carolyn Williams, president of Georgia State Aglow, captured the attention of her audience earlier this month by declaring, “Love your neighbor’’ and “the word of God rocks my world!’’ during her visit to the local Aglow chapter After Waycross Aglow Lighthouse president Rosalind Eskew welcomed the gathering Saturday, February 14 at Our Beloved Church and introduced Williams, an aura of worship enhanced the setting. The speaker’s involvement in many Christian outreach programs described her walk in faith.
Currently, she is presenting The Love Your Neighbor movement, which she said was first led by her mother Mary Lance V. Sisk. Now she encourages the movement focusing on transforming communities through love, prayer, and friendship evangelism to reach not only in America, but throughout the world.
Williams, who resides in Atlanta, stood in her presentation as a determined Christian woman who’s passionate about teaching others to practice the presence of God, to hear His voice and to abide in the secret place.
“Blessing your neighborhood through love and prayer,” she stressed. “The purpose of this movement is to cover the United States and Canada with prayer by systematically praying for every man, woman and child through neighborhood prayer triplets and light houses of prayer. The goal is to reach out to each neighbor with love and acts of kindness, to win the lost to Christ and to disciple them through neighborhood Bible studies.
“Loving your neighbor as yourself is the only command from God that completely fulfills the law and prophets. Love Your Neighbor is the heart of the Lord.
Every day wake up and shout ‘I love the Lord.’” She then quoted from Matthew saying, “You shall love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”
Jesus modeled love and we are to model that same love just as He did. It’s the mark of true discipleship.’’
Williams said Love Your Neighbor provides an outstanding opportunity for every Christian to practically and tangibly communicate the redemptive love of God to those who live within a few steps of their front door.
In commending speaker Mrs. Williams, President Eskew commented, “Mrs. Williams, who represents a number of Christian outreach programs, is passionate about teaching others to practice the presence of God, to hear his voice and to abide in the secret place.’’ Williams grew up in Charlotte, N.C., moving to Atlanta in 2004 with her husband Jim. He also serves in Aglow.
The principal firmware developer is a Men of Issachar coordinator.
After Williams’ address, Eskew read from Psalms 71 encouraging, “Lord be my strong refuge. You are my Lord and my fortress.’’
She encouraged others to join Aglow, which is present in 170 countries worldwide.
A session of prayer, praise and worship in song added to the monthly gathering.
Williams said she welcomed contact from those who want to begin a personal movement of discipleship. She can be reached at (770) 710-7105.
