HOBOKEN – Thomas “Tommy” Martin O’Steen, 79 of Hoboken, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 21, 2026, at his residence after an extended
illness.
Born in Blackshear, his parents were Joshua O’Steen and Evelyn Harris O’Steen. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Harry O’Steen.
O’Steen was an airplane pilot, flying crop dusters, and was Billy Carter’s personal pilot. For many years, he worked as a logger for Jimmy Lane.
O’Steen was a member of Hoboken Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. He loved listening to music, gardening and driving his log truck.
Survivors include his wife, Gail O’Steen of Hoboken; three sons, Joshua O’Steen (Sydney) of Hoboken, Lane Murphree (Kim) of Mississippi and Brandon Murphree (Rebecca) of Florida; two daughters, Jenny Malone of Cordele and Haley Garrett (David) of Hickox; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Homer O’Steen of Townsend; a sister, Gwen Larisey of Waycross; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, February 28, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Hoboken Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Glosson officiating.
