Midway Elementary Principal Dr. Brandi Todd has been named the new principal at her alma mater, Pierce County High School.
Todd was hired for the top job at PCHS during a called meeting Monday morning. The action came after an eight minute closed session to discuss personnel. The decision was unanimous.
“She has done a tremendous job at Midway Elementary and we think she will do a great job at the high school,” said Board Chairman Duward Boatright.
Todd will succeed Kelly Murray. Murray resigned earlier this month to take the position of superintendent of Charlton County Schools.
Murray’s resignation was effective Tuesday, February 17.
Dr. Todd, 49, is a life-long resident of Pierce County and a 1995 graduate of Pierce County High School.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Armstrong Atlantic University, her master’s degree from Central Michigan University and her education specialist and doctorate degrees from Valdosta State University.
She has been in education for almost 28 years and after a stint working with Brantley County Schools, she returned home to Pierce County. She taught four years at Blackshear Elementary and then began her career in administration serving as instructional lead teacher at Blackshear Elementary. She was named assistant principal at Midway Elementary School (MES) when it opened in 2010 and became principal there in 2020.
MES has been recognized nationally and on the state level under her leadership, including being a National Distinguished School in 2023, a Model School in 2025 and a Georgia Distinguished School for four years from 2022-2025.
Todd and her husband, Jonathan, have one son, Kaden.
The family is active at First Baptist Church of Blackshear.
