Corbette B. Woods Jr., 70, of Blackshear, died Monday evening, February 16, 2026, at the Douglas Center in Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, after an extended illness.
He was born in Waycross to the late Corbette B. Woods Sr. and Dixie Lee Youmans and made Blackshear his home for many years. He retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital where he worked for 45 years in many different capacities and was the Director of Respiratory Therapy. He was a proud Eagle Scout of Troop 300 in Waycross, and a member of the Blackshear Masonic Lodge #270 F&AM. He enjoyed all Georgia sports, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons and UGA football were some of his favorite teams.
He was an avid song writer that took his talents to Nashville, Tennessee where he won a 2nd place award in a songwriter competition. He was a man that never met a stranger, he had a huge heart and would help anyone in need. He dedicated his life to saving the lives of others. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blackshear.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his step-father, David Daniel Youmans;
