Carolyn Williams of Atlanta, president of Georgia State Aglow, captured the attention of Christian women and men attending the meeting of the local Aglow chapter Saturday morning by declaring, “Love your neighbor’’ and “The word of God rocks my world!’’
After Waycross Aglow Lighthouse President Rosalind Eskew welcomed the audience and introduced Mrs. Williams at Our Beloved Church on Osceola Avenue, an aura of worship enhanced the setting. The speaker’s involvement in many Christian outreach programs described her Christian walk. Currently she is presenting the Love Your Neighbor movement. Williams said the movement was first led by her mother Mary Lance V. Sisk. Now, Williams encourages the Love Your Neighbor movement, focusing on transforming communities through love, prayer, friendship and evangelism to reach not only in America, but throughout the world.
Mrs. Williams in her presentation stood as a determined Christian woman passionate about teaching others to practice the presence of God, to hear His voice and to abide in the secret place.
“Blessing your neighborhood through love and prayer. The purpose of this movement is to cover the United States and Canada with prayer by systematically praying for every man, woman and child through neighborhood prayer trips and lighthouses of prayer. The goal is to reach out to each neighbor with love and acts of kindness, to win the lost to Christ and to disciple them through neighborhood Bible studies,” she stressed.
“Loving your neighbor as yourself is the only command from God that completely fulfills the law and prophets,’’ Mrs. Williams said. “Love Your Neighbor is the heart of the Lord. Every day wake up and shout ‘I love the Lord.’ In the book of Matthew, it says, ‘You shall love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’ Jesus modeled love and we are to model that same love just as He did. It is the mark of true discipleship.’’
Continuing the speaker added, “Love Your Neighbor provides an outstanding opportunity for every Christian to practically and tangibly communicate the redemptive love of God to those who live within a few steps of our front door.’’ (To learn how to begin your personal movement of discipleship, call Mrs. Williams at 770-710-7105.)
In commending speaker Williams, President Eskew commented, “Mrs. Williams who represents a number of Christian outreach programs, is passionate about teaching others to practice the presence of God, to hear his voice and to abide in the secret place.’’ She grew up in Charlotte, NC, moving to Atlanta in 2004. “We also welcome her husband Jim Williams who is a principal firmware developer and also serves in Aglow as a Men of Issachar coordinator.’’
President Eskew led in special prayer for the sick, offered informative pamphlets and asked all to pray for President Trump and other personal requests. She read from Psalms 71 encouraging “Lord be my strong refuge. You are my Lord and my fortress.’’ She encouraged for others to join Aglow which is still going strong in 170 countries worldwide, saying “and you will be blessed in knowing more about this God ordained outreach.’’
A session of praise and worship in song added to the monthly gathering. Songs like “Declaring the Word of the Lord,’’ and “There’s No God Like Jehovah’’ were sung in unison.
