Butts-Perkins
UNDATED — Ms. Edith Butts-Perkins, mother, sister, and educator, entered into rest on Saturday, February 7, 2026, peacefully in her home.
She is survived by her children, Arielle (Perkins) Bakhiet, DNP, APRN, CNM, and husband Ryan Bakhiet, and Edith “ Jamie” Perkins; grandchildren, Solomon Bakhiet, Cameron Bakhiet, Abraham Bakhiet, and Moses Bakhiet; her siblings, Lela Butts-Bain, Barbara Butts, Terry Butts, and Larry Butts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Butts, and her mother, Ernestine (Tiller) Butts; as well as siblings, Coretha (Butts) Henderson, Ernestine “Tina” Butts, Roger Butts Jr., Annie Ruth Butts, Jaqueline “Jackie” Butts, and Carl Allen Butts.
Ms. Butts-Perkins attended Paine College, where she met the sisters of her chosen family Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and received her Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education. She spent her life dedicated to the molding and enrichment of young minds as a lifelong elementary school educator.
Per her wishes, there will be no service. In place of a service, please celebrate the life that was and the lives that endure.
