Crawford
WAYCROSS — Mr. William Eugene “Gene” Crawford, 70, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026, at his residence in Waycross following an extended illness.
He was born in Way-cross to the late Chester Jackson Crawford and Edith Nell Herrin Crawford. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years, most rec ently with Mixon Contracting. He was of the Baptist faith and, in his spare time, enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also was an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his son, Melinda Marie Walker.
He is survived by his son, William Jackson Crawford (Shauna) of Blackshear; four grandchildren, Trinity Davis, Matthew Davis, Bethany Crawford, and Zane Crawford; two sisters, Sally Crawford Smith (Tony) and Kristina Crawford Hooks (Jeffery Hiott), both of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Crawford’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
