Allen named PCMS assistant principal

Kyler Allen will be the new assistant principal at Pierce County Middle School.

Allen was approved for the position at last Monday night’s regular school board meeting. The hire came after a five-minute closed session to discuss personnel. The personnel session also included other recommendations and resignations.

Allen has been a special education teacher at Bacon County Middle School for the last six years. He earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, his master’s at Georgia Southern University and his education specialist degree at Valdosta State University. Allen was raised off of Highway 203 near the Pierce-Bacon County line. He is a 2015 graduate of Pierice County High School. He and his wife, Carmin, have three sons.

Allen will succeed Lauren Hyers in the role. Hyers stepped down last month after serving as an assistant principal at PCMS for two years.

“I’m thrilled to return to the school district I attended and graduated from and to join the talented staff at Pierce County Middle School. I look forward to empowering students, teachers and the community as we continue to provide an excellent educational experience for every child.”
