John Bennett is the new county extension agent for Pierce County.
Bennett will begin work soon. He will take over for James Jacobs. Jacobs retired in November.
Bennett is currently the county extension agent in Wilcox County in Rochelle, a position he has held since joining the UGA Extension service in 2020.
Bennett is a 2025 Allen B. Fulford Award winner for his work with cotton production. During his tenure with extension, he has worked with UGA specialists and local producers to conduct on-farm research such as cotton variety, deer damage and fertility trials.
He is a graduate of Coffee County High School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton. He also holds a Master of Plant Protection and Pest Management from the University of Georgia in Athens.
Bennett and his wife, Breanna, have a daughter, Olivia.
