Alyssa Shea Young

Alyssa Shea Young, 14, of Blackshear passed away Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026, at Wolfson’s Hospital in Jacksonville after a sudden illness.

Born in Savannah to Kelly and Samantha Aldridge Young, she made Blackshear her home all of her life. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Waycross and attended Gilchrist Park Church of God of Prophecy in Waycross. She was in the eighth grade at Pierce County Middle School and was in the band. In seventh grade she served on Student Council. She always had a smile no matter her health problems, was very brave and a fighter. She loved to make people laugh, sing karaoke, fishing and especially mudbogging. She had the biggest smile and brightest eyes. She always loved working with her daddy and was a mother hen to her little sister, Addie and all the cheer girls.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Floyd Young; her maternal grandfather, James Wendell “Winky’ Aldridge Jr.; one uncle, Lee Frye.

Survivors include her parents, Kelly and Samantha Aldridge Young, Blackshear; sister, Addie Young, Blackshear; maternal grandmother, Susan Pritchard Aldridge, Blackshear; paternal grandparents, Virginia and Ernest Frye, Nahunta; aunts and uncles, Chris and Julie Aldridge, Dixie Union, Ashley and Runt Lloyd, Hickox, Kala and Joshua Kruger, Jesup, Gene and Fairiby Frye, Waycross, Hollie Williams, Pelion, SC, and Tammy and Bob Williams, Waycross; adopted sisters, Satilla and Annagail Westberry, Blackshear and many great aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 14, from the Destination Church in Blackshear with the Rev. Eric Dixon officiating.

Interment followed in Waters Cemetery near Blackshear.

Pallbearers were Kelly and Samantha Young, Ernest Frye, Chris Aldridge, Gene Frye, Landon Lloyd, Cleve Pritchard, Satilla Westberry and Annagail Westberry.

Her Pierce County Middle School 8th grade class served as honorary pallbearers.
