LAGRANGE — Brantley County’s Hayden Hickox and Brysen Chancey gained a state finals berth in bass fishing finishing 21st in the first qualifier of the season February 7.
The Hickox-Chancey duo caught three fish weighing 9 pounds, 3 ounces missing a Top 20 finish by two ounces.
Buford’s Bryce Carey and Pryce Jenkinson topped the 241 competing two-person teams landing 18 lbs., 1 oz. They were among the 23 teams to catch the five-bass limit.
There were 251 bass caught totaling 583 pounds.
The next qualifier is set for March 7 at Clarks Hill in Appling.
