An inexperienced Brantley County Lady Herons split their first four matches of the young season.
The two-time defending Class 1A DI champion Lady Herons of head coach Patrick Stieve are struggling early with the departure of three seniors, who combined for over 180 career wins, and two other starters who opted not to play.
The Lady Herons opened the season beating Class 6A Camden County 4-1 Tuesday, February 3 in Kingsland. Visiting 5A Coffee High blanked BCHS 50 Thursday, February 5.
Brantley County eased visiting Class 4A Ware County 4-1 Tuesday, February 10. The Lady Herons fell 3-2 to Colquitt County 4-1 Thursday, February 12 in Moultrie.
The Lady Herons have one match this week. They travel today (Wednesday, February 18) to face Class 6A Lowndes. Brantley County begins Region 1-A play Tuesday, February 24 with Thomasville visiting.
BCHS goes to Jeff Davis Thursday, February 26 before participating in the
two-day Jekyll Jam Friday and Saturday, February 2728.

KINGSLAND — BCHS had a relatively easy time downing the Lady Wildcats in the season opener.
The lone loss came at No. 1 singles with Haley Jane Smith falling 8-2 to Amelia Robinson. Bri Crews posted an 8-2 win over Ava Pace at No. 2 and Adalyn Lattanzie winning 8-3 at No. 3 over Pier Swanson.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kynil Flowers and Sara Kate Rentz notched an 8-2 victory over Jullian Ricard and Sam Capulong while the No. 2 duo of Ellie Morgan and Brenna Gilder escaped 9-8 (8-6) over Kieran Casey and Aubree Cabrera.

CANEY BAY — Visiting Coffee overpowered the Lady Herons with five straight set victories.
Smith fell 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 to Lanie Griffin. Crews dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 2 to Emme Cole. Lattanzie was blanked 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 by Emelia Brown.
The No. 1 doubles team of Flowers and Rentz lost 64, 6-0 to Layda Smith and Saylor Brulte while the No. 2 team of Morgan and Gilder fell 6-0, 6-2 to Caroline Crawford and Hope

CANEY BAY — Brantley County recorded a singles sweep and split in doubles action to beat the Lady Gators.
Smith knocked off Ellie Blackrick at No. 1 winning 6-1, 6-1. Crews posted a 62, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Izzy Tatum. Lattanzie rallied to win a third set 10point tiebreaker at No. 3 beating Gracie Vickers 2-6, 6-4, 10-4.
Flowers and Rentz fell at No. 1 doubles losing 6-1, 62 to Paisle Wildes and Kayleigh LeMay. Morgan and Gilder recorded a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 2 over L. Welums and B. Howell.

MOULTRIE — BCHS fell in two of the three singles matches and split the doubles action in falling to the Lady Packers.
Smith logged the lone singles victory at No. 1 winning 6-2, 7-5 over Julia Costin. Crews dropped a 63, 7-6 (7-2) decision at No. 2 to Allie Rowley. Lattanzie lost 6-3, 6-2 t No. 3 to Jaelyn Wier.
The No. 1 doubles team of Mary Drury and Flowers lost 6-1, 6-4 to L. Gonzales and A. Cannon with the No. 2 duo of Emersyn Payne and Gilder escaping 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).
