Davis, 98, leaves ‘legacy of love’

Janell “Jenny” Davis, 98, widow of Jacob Loye Davis Jr. and one of Pierce County’s oldest residents, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 3, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.

The Davises were married for 78 years and left a legacy of love for family, friends and community.

Mrs. Davis worked for Satilla Rural Electric Membership Corporation in Alma and she and Mr. Davis lived, raised their family and farmed in the Sunset community of Pierce County.

She was a longtime member of Beulah Baptist Church where she was active in several ministries in the church. She enjoyed cooking for her family, planting a garden and tending to her flowers which she was still doing until recently.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, from the Beulah Baptist Church.
