NAHUNTA — The Nahunta City Council approved two vehicles to be replaced and surplused during the February monthly meeting.
Present for the City Council were Mayor Marty Lee and council members Bruce Davis and Crystal Johns. Councilwoman Deloise Anderson joined via phone. Councilman Andrew Altman was not present.
The council voted Monday, February 2 to replace a police vehicle with a 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500, as well as surplus its 2015 Dodge Charger.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 has a 5.3L V8 engine with 355 horsepower and a 10-speed automatic transmission for smooth shifts and efficient power delivery.
It has pursuit-rated suspension, calibrated specifically for law enforcement applications.
The council also voted to go with the Jericho Design Group, an Atlantabased firm, to be the architect for the USDA Grant/Loan program for a new City Hall.
Projects designed by Jericho Design Group near Nahunta include the Glynn County Fire Station, Kingsland Police Department and the Jekyll Island Public Safety Facility.
Council member Johns spoke on behalf of City Hall building committee and vouched for Jericho Design Group’s work after exploring other options.
“We looked through the lowest bids we had and we liked their work,” she said. “Their designs were better and they were the cheaper option.”
Johns also stated other firms were charging 10 percent while Jericho would only charge seven percent.
Nahunta Police Chief Brad Todd gave his report for January 2026.
There were 457 E911 calls, 343 traffic stops, with 126 citations issued and 217 warnings given, 12 incident reports were filed; two accident reports were filed and seven arrests were made.
Chief Todd also said four of the arrests were drug related.
Jeremy Ryan reported the Public Works Department worked 513 work orders for the month of January.
Ryan also stated 90 percent of the streets have now been scraped. He also stated there was a situation regarding the water tower, but the department was able to get it under control by putting in an upgraded system.
“My men went above and beyond to make sure the city never ran out of water,” Ryan said.
He also gave credit to Ryan Sikes and Ryan Davis for their hard work on the situation.
The workers have also been cleaning out the ditches around the city so they will be ready for spring.
There were no reports from City Clerk Angie Wirth nor Mayor Lee for the month of January.
The next Nahunta City Council meeting will be Monday, March 2, 2026 at 7 p.m.
