WAYCROSS — Fourteen Hoboken Elementary School students earned first-place honors at the Regional Okefenokee RESA Technology Competition to advance to the state competition.
The regional competition was held Friday, January 30 for students in grades 3 thru 6. HES was represented by 37 students.
The Georgia Student Technology Competition (GaSTC) is set for March in Mc-Donough.
Receiving first-place honors were Annabelle Murray, Annie Mae Strickland, Brinson Walker, Emma Rentz, Judd McDaniel, Greyson Burch, Micah Boyce, Cara Jane Lee, Chevy Crews, Elouise Brooke, Payeton Blount, Gracelyn Murray, Lena Mae Herrin and Braylee Music.
Runner-ups were Carson Wampler, Hudson Stone, Thomas Kersey, David Grey Russell, Rylee Page, Avery Burch, Ruger Hutcheson and Hudson Hendrix.
Placing third were Colin Swinea, Paisley Streat, Rayland Justice, Presley Woods, Soleil Holsinger, Kinsley O’Neal, Karder Herrin, Tyson Page and Bentley Stieve.
The Georgia Student Technology Competition is an annual state-level event and represents the highest level of student technology competition in Georgia.
Atkinson Elementary School had one first-place winner, a secondplace runner-up and three thirdplace finishers.
Capturing first in Digital Photo Production was Skilar P. (no last names released). The duo of Sadie T. and Aurora A. teamed up to place second in Audio Production.
Ben H. (Robotics) and Jason S. (Multimedia Applications), along with the duo of Sophie B. and Ella D. (Photo Production) finished third.
Brantley County Middle School had one individual and three twomember teams first-place winners.
Caden Blount placed first in 3D Modeling. The Graphic Design team of Ryan King and Miguel Juan Villivares, the Multimedia Applications duo of Caden Grooms and Tryston Lyons, and the Digital Photo Production team of Alexis Burgess and Tristan Fredrickson also captured top honors in their respective categories.
The 3D Modeling team of Eli Fullard and Read Thomas placed second along Kayan Stevenson in Digital Game Design and Brody Williams in Multimedia Applications.
