NAHUNTA — Gerald James Peete aka “Bug”, 63, of Nahunta passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026, at his residence after a sudden illness.
Born in Folkston to Jerry Peete and Eva Crews Horne, Peete attended Business College in North Georgia and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked as a semitruck driver, log truck driver and a dump truck driver.
Peete was preceded in death by his wife, Vicky Purvis Peete; and a nephew, Jerrod Thrift.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber Nicole Peete of Clayton, Ga.; three grandchildren, De’Ana Marie Peete, Shana Nevaeh Peete and Na’Kobe Kingston Massey; his mother, Eva Crews Horne of Nahunta; his father, Jerry Peete of New York; a sister, Nancy Selena Hurst (fiancé Jason Stricklin) of Cleveland, Ga.; and a nephew, Barret Thrift.
A funeral service was held Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Frye Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.
Burial followed in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
