Brantley County hands Cook 27th straight defeat

ADEL — Holton De-Pratter’s double-double helped lead Brantley County past winless Cook High 62-44 here Friday night.

DePratter scored 13 of his game-high 15 points in the first half leading eight players in the scoring column. He pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and handed out an assist.

Brantley County (11-13) closed out its regular season Monday night (February 9) hosting Montgomery County. The Lady Herons (18-5), who did not play in Adel, will finish against the Lady Eagles.

BCHS jumped on the Hornets (0-22), who have lost 27 straight dating back to last season, early in opening up a 13-4 first quarter lead. The Herons used a 19-11 scoring advantage in the second stanza to extend the margin to 32-15 at intermission.

Cook sliced one point off the deficit during the third period nipping the Herons 17-16 to trail 4832 with eight minutes left. BCHS outpointed the Hornets 14-12 for the final 18-point margin.

The Herons drained six treys and were 11-of-21 from the free throw line. Cook made three longrange jumpers and shot 14-of-39 from the charity stripe.

Jayden Simmons (five rebounds, two assists) joined DePratter in double figures finishing with 11 points. Tristian Dyess (two treys; five rebounds, team-high tying four assists) tallied nine points.

Hayze Evans (two treys; six rebounds, three assists, steal) netted eight points. Nathan Howell (team-high tying four assists, three rebounds) and Tallon Collins (team-high two steals, rebound) each bagged five points. Ellis Westover chipped in two points.

Juanez Sharpe led Cook with 14 points.
