Pierce County’s tennis teams recorded a second sweep to begin the season taking down visiting Bacon County.
Both the Lady Bears and Bears posted 5-0 victories in the Tuesday, February 15 match. Pierce County is off until Thursday, February 24 when West Laurens visits.
PCHS coasted to the win dropping seven games in the matchup with the Lady Red Raiders.
Jenna Bennett downed Halie Hand 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 singles with Grace Christopher winning by the same score at No. 2 over Annakate Hollingsworth. Rebecca Tyre was leading Emma White 6-1, 3-0 when the match was forfeited.
The No. 1 doubles team of Cheyenne DeJaynes and Marli Walker notched a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Mia Carver and Allison Elrod with the No. 2 team of MauraKate Waters and Taylor Sikes beating Caroline Mosley and Haven Sears 6-1, 6-0.
The Bears were just as dominate in sweeping Bacon County losing just four games.
Matthew Rodgers blanked Jeremy Bourdeau 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Hugh Saussy posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Landon Spencer at No. 2, and Ethan Carlson notched a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jose Tomberlin.
PCHS’s No. 1 doubles duo of Trevor Stevenson and Matthew Bennett downed Jackson Johnson and Joshua Owens 6-2, 6-0 with the No. 2 tandem of Luke Bennett and Davis Hersey winning 6-0, 6-1 over Mason Ellis and George Roberts.
