Caleb Williams of Blackshear has been named as the Georgia 2016 Positive Athlete of the Year.
Williams is a student at Pierce County High School and a member of the Bears’ boys tennis team. His parents are Mark and Sabrina Williams.
Williams was honored during a luncheon at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta earlier this month. Vince Dooley, retired legendary coach of the Georgia Bulldogs and Hines Ward, former Georgia Bulldog and former NFL player, were special guests at the event and recognized the honorees.
The Positive Athlete award is based on a student exhibiting seven qualities including displaying an optimistic attitude, encouraging teammates, being a servant leader, having a heart for others, admitting imperfections, giving 100 percent and putting the team first.
“Caleb has displayed these seven qualities on and off the courts, in and out of school, in our community and among his family,” says his coach, Millie Walker. “It is a privilege to celebrate Caleb. He has an infectious attitude that has positively affected those around him.”
