Pierce County High School’s soccer teams suffered a pair of shutout losses in the opening round of the Class AAA state playoffs.

The seventh-ranked Lady Bears fell 2-0 to Region 4 third-ranked Blessed Trinity at home Friday afternoon. The Lady Titans advance to host Region 8 fourth-seed Jackson County, which beat Region 5 champion Central-Carroll 5-2.

The only survivor from Region 1’s matchup with Region 4 was champion Savannah Arts Academy. The sixth-ranked Lady Panthers drilled Region 4 fourth-seed Jackson 9-0. Third-seed Islands was blanked by second-ranked Decatur 5-0 and fourth-seed Southeast Bulloch fell 10-0 to top-ranked Westminister.

The third-seed Bears had their season ended by second-ranked Westminister falling 8-0 in Atlanta. The Wildcats will visit Region 8 champion Oconee County, an 8-0 winner over Region 5 fourth-seed Rockmart, in the season round.

Seventh-ranked Savannah Arts Academy was the lone winner for Region 1. The Panthers blasted Jackson 9-1. Eighth-ranked Islands, the second-seed, was blanked 4-0 by Region 4 third-seed and third-ranked Decatur. Region 4 champion Blessed Trinity, ranked fifth, blanked fourth-seed Southeast Bulloch 6-0.
