The Pierce County Lady Bears continued to roll along in tennis action recording a pair of Region 1-AAA wins last week.

PCHS (10-2 overall, 6-0 region) blanked Dodge County 5-0 and beat Appling County 4-1.

The Lady Bears will have their hands full this week with a pair of matches. Pierce traveled Tuesday to Brantley County and will host region leader Savannah Arts Academy Thursday afternoon.

Lady Bears 5 - Dodge County 0

The Lady Bears sealed the win with a sweep of the doubles action with only one match needing three sets.

Liza Hurst rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kylie Erwin at No. 1 singles. Meagan Wright notched a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Breanna Hutchenson at No. 2. Deanna Jones posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Meredith Hutchenson.

In doubles action, the No. 1 team of Serena Strickland and Haley Theis  down the team of MaryBeth Dopson and Abby C. Manning 6-2, 6-3. PCHS’s No. 2 team of Regan Sikes and Sadie Marfil outlasted the duo of Madeyln Pruitt and Abby M.  Manning 6-1, 3-6, 10-3 (tie-breaker).

Lady Bears 4 - Appling County 1

PCHS made fairly quick work of the Lady Pirates winning four matches in straight sets.

Hurst blanked Carissa Bass 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and Wright recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2. Pierce’s lone loss came at No. 3 with Jones falling 3-6, 1-6 to Halee Leggett.

Strickland and Theis blanked Courtney Thornton and Sydney Cauley in the No. 1 doubles match while Sikes and Marfil posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hannah Bennett and Caroline Rentz at No. 2.
