The Pierce County Lady Bears posted a sixth-place finish at the Class AAA state tournament played at Pointe South Golf Club in Hephzibah outside of Augusta.
The Lady Bears, who won the Region 1-AAA tournament with a round of 255, shot one of their highest totals of the season finishing with a 282 team score to finish 25 shots back in the 16-team field. PCHS won state titles in 2000 and 2005.
Calhoun High School and Blessed Trinity, the Region 4 and Region 6 champions, finished the 18-hole tournament tied at 257. Calhoun went on to win its second straight title on the second hole of the sudden-death playoff.
Finishing behind the Lady Yellow Jackets and Lady Titans were Oconee County (264), North Murray (267), Central-Carroll (273), PCHS, Jefferson (286), Jackson County (287), Franklin County (287), Sonoraville (292), Brantley County (294), Southeast Bulloch (294), Banks County (299), Davidson Fine Arts (308), Lumpkin County 314) and Gordon Central (316).
Sloan Lanier was low medalist for the Lady Bears finishing with a round of 91 to tie for 20th-place. Kayla Petrowicz posted a score of 95 to finish 32nd. Kelsey Russell was a shot back after carding a 96 to finish in a tie for 33rd. Anna Tiller rounded out the team with a score of 105 to finish in a tie for 49th-place in the field of 72 girls.
