Winton Alavice Powers Jr. of Springtown, TX, passed from this world and into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior — Jesus Christ — Tuesday, February 25, 2020.
He was born December 19, 1934 in Pierce County to Winton Alavice Powers Sr. and Ida Mae Walker Powers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, George A. Powers and Robert V. Powers and by his sister, Cora Belle Sanders.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in December of 1958 with the rank of E-3. He had a long and successful career in banking and finance. After retirement, he relocated to Texas from South Carolina to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Springtown, TX.
He enjoyed spending time with his family over a good meal, telling “bad dad” jokes, working crossword puzzles, hiking through Eagle Mountain Park, working out at The Gem, playing the lottery, dancing, golf, fishing, socializing with the boys at Duke’s, a good laugh and staying young at heart and soul.
Survivors include his daughters, Viveca Rene’ Chenoweth and Shawnda Gwin Neyland; his grandchildren, Austin Samuel Chenoweth, Caroline Shea Chenoweth and Cameron Cheyenne Barlow and a sister, Allie Mae “Cydi” Waters.

His family of would like to thank Encompass Hospice Care nurses Kandra, Tracie and Lisa for the professionalism, skill, love, compassion and faith that they shared. It was truly a blessing.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, from White’s Funeral Home Chapel in Springtown, TX.
Inurnment will follow at a later date in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with the time to be announced.
