William C. Jacobs, 79, of Blackshear, died early Thursday morning, October 29, 2020, at his home with loved ones at his bedside.
He was born July 24, 1941 to the union of Eldora Kate and Eddie Willie Jacobs.
He attended Lee Street High School and had already started being a businessman by selling snacks to other students. At the age of 18, he had his own truck and was hauling fertilizer. This expanded into J&B Trcuking and he had a contract with Southern Egg Company of Waycross. During this time, he also opened a clothing store, The Village Nook, on Tebeau Street in Waycross. After Southern Egg closed, he got into burial vaults and monuments. These two businesses led to his dream of opening his own funeral home.
In April, 1994, he opened the doors of Jacobs Funeral Home in Blackshear, which remains open after 26 years of service. He and his wife, Faye, then created Jacob Rental Properties.
He was a true entrepeneur and often referred to himself as a Jew as he would always bargain for the lowest price. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Chris; three brothers, Curtis, James and B.J and a sister-in-law, Diane.
Those left to cherish his love and his precious memories are his wife of 44 years, Faye; two sisters, Kathy and Delores; three daughters, Kim, Pam and Gale; five sons, Billy, Wade, Felix, Todd and J.J.; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a grandson he raised, Steven, along whith his spouse, Shantell, who gave him 24 hour care at home, where he wanted to be.
A private funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at the graveside at the family’s private cemetery.
No public visitation and no repast will be held.
Jacobs Funeral Home of Blackshear is in charge of arrangements.
