Sherry Ann Cowart Smiley, 65, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 2, 2020, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.

Born in Starke, FL December 27, 1954, she had lived in Pierce County since 1982. She was a U.S. Air Force Veteran and had worked in Human Resources at Satilla Regional Medical Center prior to working for the McKinney Center where she was currently the Human Resources Director.  She enjoyed camping, reading, playing the piano and watching tv. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she was in the Young at Heart Sunday School class.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. 

She was a daughter of the late Johnny Jackson and Orene Padgett Cowart. She was also preceded in death by her infant sister and three brothers, Stephen, Jack and Johnny Cowart. 

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, George L. Smiley, Blackshear; her son, Jason Smiley, Blackshear; her granddaughter, Kamryn Smiley; her brother, Michael (Betty) Cowart, Starke, FL and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 5, at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, from the Pearson-Dial Chapel.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
