Samuel Andrew Boyett, 91, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 21, 2022, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross following an extended illness.
Born January 10, 1931, in Pierce County, he was a son of the late James Lester and Carrie Alma Pierce Boyett. He lived most of his life in Pierce County and was a veteran, having served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He retired as a supervisor with United States Gypsum Corporation in Jacksonville, FL and was also a farmer. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church where he served as the church deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Lee and Morita Lee and five brothers, Earl Boyett, T.J. Boyett, Elder Winston Boyett, Elder Willis Boyett and Milford Boyett.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Carolyn Hope Boyett, Blackshear; two step-daughters, Jan Carter, Blackshear and Lynn Marsh (husband Dennis), Yulee, FL; a step-son, Hal Reynolds (wife Michelle), Yulee, FL; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Genoa Lee and Geneva Bacon, both of Alma; a brother, Charlie Boyett, Blackshear and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, from the chapel of Hart Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Rehobeth Cemetery.
