Roselyn Barrow Deal

Roselyn Barrow Deal, 98, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Baptist Village Retirement Communities in Waycross, following an extended illness.

She was born in Waycross to the late Thomas A. Barrow and Lillie Eliza Cornell. She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was selected in 1999 as the Mother of the Year by the Waycross Journal Herald.  She was involved in several outreach ministries for many years and was a Bible study leader for her apartment complex before moving to Baptist Village. She was also the first drum majorette for Waycross High School.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roy Lenton Deal Sr.; a son, Roy Lenton Deal Jr. and two sisters, Emily Hyers and Carol Wainwright.

Survivors include six children, Rose Marie Dyals (Walker), Waycross, Thomas Cleveland “Andy” Deal (Ann), Valdosta, Donna Lee Dyal (Carroll), Sandston, VA, Dana Mark Deal (Laura), Blackshear, Jon Phillip Deal (Jamie), Valdosta and Tamara D. Stephens (John L. Jr.), Waycross; a daughter-in-law, Mary Deal, Waycross; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; five siblings, Madeline Shepard, Tallahassee, FL, Majorie Reach, Live Oak, FL, Barbara Westberry, Fitzgerald, Thomas A. Barrow, Newbern, NC and William “Bill” Barrow, Waycross and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Central Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, from the Central Baptist Church.  

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Ware County.
